Dear All,
My late Grandmom passed away at Richmond General Hospital on Sept., 2008.
She was born in a peasant family in Mainland China. At a very early age, she started to carry out the responsibilities to help with the family work on the rice field and looking after fellow brothers and sisters.
After marrying to my late Grandpa and the born of Uncle William, the family living became much harder in the village. My late Grandpa had to leave by himself to look for better opportunities in Hong Kong. During the Pacific War, there was extended periods of time the family could not establish communication at all , let alone financial support for the family in the village. During those difficult times, my late Grand-mom worked very hard to raise the family by herself.
After the war, the family re-united in Hong Kong and my dad Stephen was born. With the whole family working very hard, a family business was established. The family living was slowly improving and my late Grand-parents worked very hard to provide the best education opportunities for my uncle and my dad. Thanks to their hard work, both of them are responsible members of the society.
Because of the lack of opportunity to receive proper education in her childhood, my late Grand-Mom always stress the importance of education. Only last month, our family came from Toronto to visited her while she was in hospital. Her last encouraging words for Wesley and me was " kin lick do She" which mean "do your best in school".
She has left us forever. She lived her 81 years to the fullest. She worked very hard to raise her children and provide help to the others. Let us learn from her courage in taking challenges and belief in education. We will all miss her and hope that she will have a very happy after life.
Let us bow.
Jonathan and Wesley
